Energy Medicine for Body Mind Healing: For Real or Bogus, Hocus Pocus?
Posted by admin on Apr 15, 2009
A new age of medicine has arrived and it’s looking at the individual in a holistic sense to achieve what’s known as body-mind healing. When considering the techniques, practices and devices used for achieving this state of well-being, we are now witnessing the world open itself to fields of medicine that have been around for many thousands of years. Many of these practices have been overlooked and disregarded by the medical community and its patients for numerable reasons, considering it to have no scientific merit. This applies particularly in the West where it had been thought of as voodoo or black magic, up until now.
For so long, the human being as well as its environment, (namely the Universe itself) had been thought of as mechanistic. Science had told us that we were robotic, something like a machine. This perception of course, is false and inaccurate. The truth is, we and the universe alike are living entities. The planet Earth that we call home is itself an organism, and like ourselves, it survives and thrives by a universal life force that permeates all living things. What exactly is this force?
Known by traditions in India as Prana , China as Chi or Qi, Japan as Ki, Loong and Bla in Tibet, Mana in Polynesia and Therapeutic Touch in the U.S., is one of the most profound and fundamental therapies in the field of body-mind medicine and holistic health. Welcome to the world of Energy Medicine.
Having been called “the future of medicine” by Dr. Mehmet Oz, Americans have been taking complimentary forms of healing seriously, though at a slower rate than those around the world. However, once introduced, growing enthusiasm within the U.S. has allowed them to test an array of alternative healing modalities, which are becoming recognized as important because they are not only affordable, making it cost-effective, but the fact is that they work.
Energy medicine is both an art and science that focuses on the body’s energy systems for healing. When there is a blockage or interference in the energy field, the body becomes toxic and is then susceptible to illness and disease. The aim in energy healing is to re-ignite and balance the energy flows by a cleansing process that removes the toxicity that’s attracted by negative thought processes. These energetic interventions allow the body to return to its natural healthy state by restoring the energy flow.
The various types of treatments used in energy healing include massage, reiki, light and color therapies, and acupuncture, which is one of the oldest and most commonly used holistic medical procedures in the world. In the West, a common form of energy healing is Therapeutic Touch, which has been taught to thousands of nurses across the United States.
Most or all of these techniques will assist the individual to reduce stress, recover from trauma, cope with grief and loss, manage pain, change limiting beliefs, deal with illness and its health challenges, and basically give the person a complete sense of well-being.
However, many are critical of this form of medicine for hosts of reasons, ignoring the testimonies of healers and their patients alike. Much of it can be said because of the very nature that energy healing derives from. It has found itself to be quite a contraversial subject among medical communities. This is not so surprising when considering that this practice has only been seriously looked at in recent modern times. We have so much more to discover and explore about our bodies in relation to energy healing. I’m certain that we will come across evidence more compelling when compared with what we know and are capable of now. (For a skeptics point of view, read an article written in the online Skeptics Dictionaryby clicking here).
Individuals seeking to improve life should definantly consider energy medicine as an option. For we know as a fact, that, body mind healing is ideal for balancing the areas of life that are emotional, mental, physical, and last but never least, spiritual.
